Mortal Kombat Flash

Mortal Kombat game is a cult series of fightings created by Midway. Mortal Kombat started like a games series for arcade system boards. Acclaim Entertainment was engaged in the game to home consoles. At present Midway bought by Warner Brothers created new games in series exlusively for home consoles. Mortal Kombat is well-known for the fact that while creating first games of the series programmers and designers used sprites, made from real actors' movements shot on video, while all the other products of fighting genre used drawn sprites. Also Mortal Kombat differed from its competitors by the level of brutality and blood. One of the brightest examples of brutality in MK is the system of bloody finishes - Fatalities, requiring pushing a special buttons combination.

This fact came to be one of the reasons for creating an organization "Entertainment Software Rating Board" that deals with defining age restriction ratings for computer videgames.

Another famous feature of Mortal Kombat series is a trend to replace the letter "C" to a letter "K" in the vocabulary of the game, including the name if the game itself - "Mortal Kombat".

The first Mortal Kombat ROM was created as a reply to a popular fighting "Street Fighter II" from Capcom company. Instead of drawn cartoon-like graphics real video of human movements was used. Critics declare that ostentatious brutality was included in the game just to provoke social protest and arguments and this way attract attention of society to MK. This formula did work: the mix of realism and brutality made Mortal Kombat extremely popular.
